Les A Casino has a good pedigree with a UK Gaming License and a good choice of deposit methods, but doesn't stand out from the crowd and lacks definitive branding.

Les A Casino As my main recollection of French lessons in school involved staring out over the playing fields checking out the boys in the rugby team, my French is not surprisingly tres abominable. However, linguistically challenged as I am, I recognised that "les" in French means "The" although I wasn't too sure what the "A" in this curiously named casino stood for. After all, "The A" doesn't really make much sense unless of course you are a taxi firm in which case it seems that the challenge is to get as many "A"s into your name as possible. However after a little digging - well OK I scrolled to the bottom of the page it appears that Les A is a shortened version of Les Ambassadeurs which apparently is a well-known gambling club in Mayfair, London. Pardon my ignorance though, I'm from the North and I don't get out much. So with an impressive gambling pedigree such as theirs, I expected something a little bit special from their online casino. I wanted to be dazzled by innovative new games, wowed by promotions, I wanted to feel like I was the most important customer in the world. Did they deliver? In a nutshell, no. What I actually got was a bog standard Playtech casino, perfectly adequate but there was absolutely nothing to set it aside from any other Playtech casino - perhaps with the exception of the current win a trip to Japan promotion set to expire on October 1st 2015. Now don't get me wrong, Playtech are a fine provider of casino software but I have always found them to be fairly dull and they haven't really moved with the times. Playing at Playtech casinos is like inviting your favourite aunt over for tea - you know it will be perfectly pleasant but predictable - she is not exactly going to dance naked on the table with the milk jug on her head. In fact, it has been a fair few months since I last played at a Playtech casino so I expected some new innovations - after all Microgaming would have released loads of new games in that time, perhaps with rehashed code but you cannot help to feel that Microgaming are at least trying to provide fresh new games. Playtech not so much. Yes they have new games, but they are much like the old games. And when I found a slot I actually liked the look of it wouldn't work. The reels kept spinning until I got the message cannot connect to the gaming server. Frustrating and annoying. Yes there is an instant play version as well as a download version so you can play on different devices, yes the casino looks and feels professional and is perfectly adequate for most gamers needs but I can't help feeling that is lacks a little je ne sais quoi (ooh she's speaking French again) to set it apart from every other Playtech clone. Nevertheless, the real crunch in any casino is how it plays. They do offer a generous welcome bonus which will triple your bankroll on your first deposit. As a mainly slots player, naturally I availed myself of this. Now I know many slots games have high variance but the casino gobbled my deposit and bonus like a fat bird at a buffet. It was remorseless. Yes it could have been a simple run of bad luck and I know it happens but whatever I played I just could not get ahead. I also came across some strange game limits - my bet on Samba Brazil was limited to £2 yet I could bet much more than that on other games which was slightly bizarre. Whatever I did though, the casino was not going to let me win. Even a little bit. Transparency is something I value quite highly in life - apart from transparent clothing because really, no one wants to see that. Oh wait you do? Hmm ok. Anyway, I digress. Lesacasino.com have a list of winners on their winner's page - all of whom appear to have won healthy sums at the casino. The extremely lucky Frank73 won a mind boggling €177,079 on the Beach Life slot at the casino - or did he? A quick google search reveals that Frank73 also won the amount at Casino.com! And Slotsheaven.com Actually these casinos are all in the same group and as the progressives are networked technically they have done nothing wrong. Yet it does give the impression that the jackpots were actually won at LesaCasino.com and not their sister sites. So what else can I say about the casino? Well they offer a good choice of deposit methods, an ok welcome package and a couple of decent promotions. They have a good pedigree being part of the Mansion Casino group and most importantly hold a UK gaming license which means that they must be doing something right as they aren't the easiest things to get. Yet I still get the impression that something is missing from the whole experience. It's like a cream tea without the jam or a full English breakfast without the bacon. Or as my old French teacher would say - "Could do better". Good Points: Bad Points: 3 Stars |
